Overview
Qatar's recruitment shifted after the 2022 World Cup from stadium construction toward infrastructure maintenance, hospitality, logistics, healthcare and facilities management. Volumes are lower than Saudi Arabia or the UAE, but pay is competitive and the labour reforms of recent years have measurably improved conditions.
Qatar abolished the exit-permit requirement for most workers and introduced a non-discriminatory minimum wage, which makes it one of the better-regulated Gulf destinations. Processing is slower than the UAE, largely because of employer-side approvals.
Why Qatar?
Statutory minimum wage
A non-discriminatory minimum wage of QAR 1,000 basic plus food and accommodation allowances applies to all workers.
No exit permit needed
Most workers can leave the country without employer permission, a significant reform.
Employer transfer allowed
Changing jobs no longer requires a no-objection certificate in most cases.
Strong infrastructure demand
Ongoing maintenance, transport and hospitality projects sustain recruitment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Qatar's minimum wage?
QAR 1,000 per month basic, plus QAR 300 for food and QAR 500 for accommodation where the employer does not provide them directly - roughly ৳ 33,000-59,000 in total depending on what is provided. This applies to all workers regardless of nationality.
Do I still need an exit permit to leave Qatar?
Not for most private-sector workers - that requirement was removed. A small number of senior roles still require employer approval, and it should be stated in your contract.
Why is Qatar processing slower than the UAE?
Employer-side approvals and Ministry of Labour contract attestation take longer. Budget 35-60 days from complete document submission, and be sceptical of anyone promising two weeks.
Can I bring my family to Qatar?
Yes, if you hold a valid residence permit, meet the salary threshold for your job category and have suitable accommodation. Attested marriage and birth certificates are essential - start that attestation early.
Check all employer documents and agency licence before payment. Never send money to a personal mobile wallet number.
